Informal Dialogue to Take Stock of the Progress, Opportunities and Challenges to Weapons and Ammunition Management and the Implementation of the Arms Embargo in Somalia

This informal event will facilitate dialogue among participants on the progress made by the Federal Government of Somalia in developing its weapons and ammunition management frameworks and systems and to implement the conditions of the partial suspension of the arms embargo. The event will also allow the exchange of ideas on how these efforts can be further supported and improved. It will also examine opportunities to implement the arms embargo to greater effect against entities undermining stability in Somalia. Dialogue among participants will be aided by a discussion paper that will be circulated in advance.

Participation is by invitation only. Invited participants include representatives of the Federal Government of Somalia, current and incoming members of the Security Council, relevant UN system entities, and Somalia’s international partners.
