Regional Weapons and Ammunition Management Lesson Learned Seminar

UNIDIR in partnership with the African Union Commission is organizing a Regional Weapons and Ammunition Management Lessons Learned Seminar aimed at enhancing knowledge and facilitating dialogue among States, regional organizations, the United Nations and expert NGOs on good practices and lessons learned in managing weapons and ammunition in Africa. Building on the findings from UNIDIR’s multi-year baseline assessments in Africa, the seminar will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas on improving approaches to WAM, including UNIDIR’s WAM baseline methodology, and explore ways to better utilize assessment findings to strengthen cooperation and assistance among States and relevant partners, with the view of advancing effective WAM practices in Africa. This seminar is being organized in support of the 2017 African Union Roadmap for Silencing the Guns and the 2018 United Nations Secretary-General’s Agenda for Disarmament.
